(Some)Things to Consider – (Some)Things to Consider –
A collection of essays, articles and writings;
both self discovered and assigned. It
unpacks various histories, ideologies and
themes within design practice (mostly
regarding print design and typography);
intended to serve as a point of reference for
designers from all levels of proficiency.
The ideas in this book are curated into two sections. The first focuses on design history, technical craft and “science”. The second section, compiles texts as tools for experimentation, inspiring subversive practices; exploring critical thinking/theories and speculative futures in retrospect of messy design histories.
The design is informed by both traditional (symmetrical) and modernist (asymmetrical) book typesetting styles; borrowing conventions and aspects from both aesthetic ideologies to create pages with a balanced tension. The marrying of polarising opinions and ideologies–extensively discussed within these texts–critiques the egotistical and elitist rules of so called “Design”, proving that there is enough space for aesthetic differences to co-exist without dogmatically rejecting the other.
